| Off the west coast of Scotland the Isle of Arran
is the most southerly of the Scottish Isles. Often referred to 'Scotland in miniature'
the Isle of Arran has the best of what the rest of Scotland has to offer; beautiful coastlines with pretty villages are complemented by a rugged and mountainous interior in the north and green rolling hills and woodland in the south.
Live music is alive and well on Arran. From traditional Scottish
Ceilidh Dances, through popular folk music, country tunes and sing
alongs, to rock 'n' roll and disco. Arran has live musical entertainment
to suit most occasions and tastes.
Terry left his home town of Ipswich in 1991 and came to Arran for
the Folk Festival week in June and has been here ever since and
is perhaps the only man on Arran who earns his living entirely by
playing music. Terry started out playing solo but soon met up with
like minded musicians and other bands gradually evolved over the
years.
As described once in the local press, Terry's situation can be likened
to a Babushka Doll - if the full band is not suited to an occasion
then a smaller line-up can be provided. From Solo through Duo's,
Trio's up to a 4,5 or sometimes a 6 piece Band playing a mixture
of Folk, Sing-a-long, Shanties, Country, Bluegrass, Cajun and a
bit of R & R plus Ceildh Dances including Waltzes & Quicksteps,
Arran Music do their best to provide entertainment for most occasions.
